Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At the height on Sunday, over 28,000 energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both regions.
Safety Concern
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
